Scooby Doo Vitamins Package was done on a computer in 1986...that’s right 1986!
This was before a Mac, before Illustrator or Photoshop; before people knew you could. I was experimenting and working with time constrains.
I had to have 7 packages designed with 3D mark-ups for a presentation for Hanna Barbera and the COO of Vita-Fresh Vitamin company by Friday, the place I worked for at the time.
They told me Tuesday!!!!
Well traditional tools wouldn't do it. I had to think outside the box. The packages were basically the same.
How could I do it fast, and make it look presentable.
I knew I was working with a company producing presentation slides on a computer about the size of a semi truck. I had my computer at home, a 128 Mac, and showed the product manager a comp. Through some artful persuasion, he talk to the President of Marketing, who bought time. Rather then slide film, we replaced it with print film. They were printed on Kodak paper, cut and folded. All seven comps were done by Friday with a super presentation.
